Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Netanya were today (Wednesday) on disciplinary action in the court of the Football Association for racist chants in the game between the teams.
Idan Alter, secretary general of Maccabi Tel Aviv, said at the hearing that: "This is a sensitive period with terrorist attacks. We do not justify the calls in any way, but the court should understand that it is not racist but given the situation in the country, there is a tense atmosphere."
The court took into account the claims of Maccabi Tel Aviv and sentenced it to an actual fine of NIS 15,000 and a conditional radius game until the end of the season.
Maccabi Netanya was fined NIS 25,000 in practice and also suffered a conditional radius game until the end of the season.
